Just another blog

There are a million of them out there, and this is mine.  My musings, my wanderings through the world, and hopefully soon my original designs.  I don't think I've found a better creative outlet for the silly words that sometimes pour through my mind while my fingers fly around with the needles.  So, here I go again, sharing my views with the world.  Thanks for stopping by!

Gifts for the new baby...

Several of my friends have asked what we need for the new baby, or how they can send a gift easily. I've made a paypal button, if you'd like to send a monetary gift, here's an easy way to do it.

Just click on the button, and away you go!

Baby blankets...

Baby number 4 is due in early July. I started blankets back in November on several different sets of knitting needles. I just couldn't find anything I was happy with. I've since pulled them all apart (almost) and have gone back to my old standby. Crochet. A lovely blanket made up of squares. It will be beautiful, even if I am disappointed in my ability to make a knit one.

I know I CAN make a knit one, I just feel like it's going to take me until the baby is 4. This just won't do, the baby needs to have a blankie to come home with. I'm not sure why my knitting is so slow. Maybe that's why I stick to tiny projects like socks and hats. Will it ever improve? Will my beautiful children ever be able to have a hand knit blanket from their Mommy? I hope so.

Back to the needles... or rather, the hook, in this case.

Sock craziness...

I love making socks. I do. But maybe it was just a little ambitious to run out to buy sock yarn for everyone for Christmas presents. On the other hand, I have it, so I can make them throughout the year and make next year the sock Christmas, right? Which of course leads to the question "what do I give them this year?"

There they are, my first pair of socks!

First socks are done!

I challenged myself. I had tiny thin yarn, itty bitty double pointed needles, and a whole book of instructions. Socks. They can be very intimidating.

I made a pair! I didn't give up. I didn't freak out when I got to the heel flap, or turning the heel, or rejoining all the stitches in the round....or even at the kitchener stitches at the end to close the toe. As soon as I figure out how, I'll put a picture up.

But now I have to go plan the next pair of socks!

Welcome!

I know there are a billion blogs around, and this one won't be different, or even really special, but it's a place where I can talk about my yarn obsessions, and my adventures in fiber... and somewhere there might be someone out there who cares. Goodness knows my family is sick of hearing about it.

So grab a seat, and your hooks and needles and join me on my adventures.
